About Uncharted Dimensions

I read a lot of science fiction. It's something that I've always enjoyed. I've created this blog to share my thoughts on science fiction books that I think don't get enough love. Books that are underrated, underappreciated, or just not very well known. Stuff that you may not have heard of. If you're an avid SF reader, you may already know a lot of them, but maybe you'll come across something new to you. If you're new to SF or haven't read too extensively, you probably won't be very familiar with them.

My approach in these reviews is to focus on books that I personally like and recommend. It's easy (and fun!) to write a nasty review of a book that doesn't fit one's personal tastes. I'm going to skip all that here, and tell you about books that I think are worth giving a go, and why.

The selections here will of course be biased by my personal taste. So, what do I like? I prefer character-focused books, and a good plot is nice. I like the inclusion of science where it adds to the story, but I don't care much about science for the sake of science. I enjoy a surreal/weird/slipstream vibe or just something a bit original. I like writers with a unique style. I like books that are literary but not pretentious, and I fully enjoy a bit of pew pew pew when it's done well. I like humor, when it works. In general, I like books that are exciting, surprising, or just plain fun.

With that in mind, I invite you to tell me about lesser-known SF books that you've read, or ones that you've written (traditionally published or self published). If the description sounds like something I might be into, I'll buy a copy (generally on Kindle, unless the cover is really cool). If it's not quite my cup of tea, I'll let you know. If I really enjoy it, I'll let everyone know.
